[Mini-Review] Samsung Galaxy S7

So this here review is gonna be a little different than other reviews...as "technically" I don't own this phone.  But, as I know quite a few people who do, and I was able to bribe/threaten/cajole one of them enough (thanks Steven!) to lay my hands on it for a good little while, I feel confident I can give the 4-1-1 to anyone who is actively considering making this their next daily driver device.  If you've got a Galaxy S5 or even purchased an S6 early on, this could be the one you're waiting for.  Maybe you've used an iPhone for a while and are considering making the switch to Android?  This could be the one you've been waiting for as well.  The Galaxy S7 - here's looking at you, kid!

[News] Samsung Galaxy Note 4 announcement likely to come on Sept 3

Word is out - invitations to the Samsung Unpacked 2014 event have started to arrive.  And at this event, the long awaited successor to the popular Galaxy Note 3 is expected to make its debut.  The Note 4 is rumored to have specs "much better than the Galaxy S5" - which should include the Snapdragon 805 processor and a Quad HD display.  In a time where 5.5" displays on mobile devices are growing more commonplace, I'm sure that Samsung will be happy to have theirs hit store shelves.

With the G3 just released, and the rumored iPhone 6 release no doubt coming later on this year, could Sammy have picked just the right time to launch their new phablet?  Time will tell.

[News] Samsung reports Galaxy S3 has sold 30 million units

The Samsung Galaxy line, in particular the Galaxy S3, have all sold really well.  But according to the latest sales figures reported by Samsung itself, the GS3 is their most popular phone ever, selling 30 million devices in 157 days.  That's 191,083 a day for those of you playing along at home.  That's....a lot of phones.  No question this was the home run that Samsung was looking for when they released the phone, but based on sales figures from the previous phones in the Galaxy line, I think if you'd said 30 million phones in a little over 5 months, people would have thought you were crazy.

Regardless, this Android phone is one of the best on the market for sure.  Those thinking about making a phone purchase before the end of the year should give the Galaxy S3 a serious look.  Unless you're into HTC...in which case the so-called HTC "Deluxe" or "Droid DNA" might be worth a look as well (see details here).

[News] Best Buy cutting Galaxy S3 price for 1-day only sale

As most of you have probably heard already, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is one of (if not the) best Android flagship phones on the market right now.  Starting and ending tomorrow, October 26, 2012, Best Buy's retail stores are offering this device at $100 off its normal price of $199.99, making it a steal of a deal at $99.99.  Now a new 2 year agreement is required to get this price, but it work for 3 major carriers: Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.

If you're considering picking up a new Android device anytime soon, and this one is on your list, head on over to Best Buy early tomorrow and check it out.  Supplies are most likely limited to what they have on hand, so the early bird will get the worm.  If the worm was a 4.8 inch display Samsung smartphone.

[News]Verizon announces Droid RAZR HD and MAXX HD for October 18th. Both officially overpriced.

Verizon has confirmed the Droid RAZR HD and MAXX HD will both launch on October 18th.  The RAZR HD will be $199.99 on contract, while the RAZR MAXX HD will be $299.99.

These prices are what I expected when I wrote our holiday buyer's guide, and it's hard to shake the feeling that both phones are overpriced.

The Samsung Galaxy S III (GSIII) can be had for as little as $49.99 on contact and matches the RAZR HD and MAXX HD in virtually every department.  In fact, the Galaxy S III has more RAM (2GB vs. 1GB), a slightly larger screen (4.8" vs. 4.7") and the same dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor.

The only advantage the RAZR HD and MAXX HD have are bigger batteries.  This would be a big deal if the GSIII was a battery hog, but it's not.  The GSIII will easily get the average user through a day and the $149.99 price difference versus the RAZR HD and $249.99 versus the RAZR MAXX HD will buy a lot of spare batteries just in case.

If you're a Verizon customer that's in the market right now do yourself a favor and buy the GSIII at a discount.  You won't regret it.
